The Lower Cape May Regional High School wrestling team produced two champions at the Most Outstanding Wrestler award winner at the Art Marinelli Tournament at Egg Harbor Township High School Thursday.

Sophomore Chase Hansen and senior Isiah Carr-Wing won their respective weight classes, with Hansen selected as the MOW following a dominant four-match run to the title at 138 pounds.

Carr-Wing was the 190-pound weight class winner.

Lower Cape May finished an excellent fourth in team scoring at the tournament, which included 24 teams.

CHASE HANSEN

Hansen did not have to wrestle a full six minutes in any of his four matches. In fact, he didn’t even need to wrestle an entire first period in his first three bouts, winning his first-, quarterfinal- and semifinal-round matches through first-period pins. He then recorded a 22-6 victory by technical fall over Daniel Bogardus of Seneca in the championship match.

Carr-Wing received a first-round bye before winning by 11-3 major decision in the quarterfinals and by second-period fall in the semifinals. He won the championship bout by 8-3 decision over Sam Myers of Audubon.

Hansen and Carr-Wing were two of five Lower Cape May wrestlers to reach the semifinals. Quintin Hagan (215) and Ben Rue (Hwt.) each placed third and Logan Haggerty (175) was fourth.
