Abbey Cappelletti and the Middle Township High School girls basketball team scored their only points of the fourth quarter at the most opportune time Thursday.
Cappelletti, a sophomore guard, knocked down a right corner three-point shot just ahead of the buzzer to give the Lady Panthers a thrilling 45-42 victory at Absegami. The basket represented Middle’s only points of the fourth quarter.
Cappelletti made the shot shortly after inbounding the ball to teammate Mckenzie Palek. Cappelletti ran toward the basket and reversed back to the corner while receiving a perfect screen from teammate Sarah Farrow. Cappelletti took a pass from Palek and fired the shot into the basket/
Cappelletti’s older sister, Hannah, led Middle with 12 points, via four three-point shots. Farrow added 10. Abbey Cappelletti finished with six.
Middle improved to 14-6 with the victory.
