LCM produces four champions, second-place team finish at Gateway tournament

Lower Cape May’s wrestling team produced four individual champions and finished in second place as a team at the 10-team Gator Tournament at Gateway High School last weekend.

Chase Hansen (138), Danny Byrne (150), Gabe Tosto (157) and David Douglass (175) each emerged as champions for Lower Cape May.

The Caper Tigers scored 235 points to finish behind team champion Lenape, which scored 299 ½ points. Lower finished well ahead of third-place Red Bank, which posted 110 team points.

In addition to its four champions, Lower also had four other wrestlers reach title bouts. They included Landon Shivers (106), Connor Barikian (126), Dom Marrero (144) and John Hearon (215).

Lower is next in action at Friday’s Egg Harbor Township Tournament.
