Another local youth is headed to the Phillies Home Run Derby championships.

EASTON IAMES
CapeAtlanticLive.com reported last week that Middle Township residents Harrison Fritsch, 8, and Emma Gotwals, 13, have each advanced to the finals scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10, before the Phillies’ 1:35 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
As it turns out, a third local youth will be joining them.
Easton Iames, 11, of Lower Township, won the boys ages 11-12 division at the regional championship in Millville in late August.
Iames is a sixth-grader at Sandman Consolidated School. He plays baseball for the 12U South Jersey Ospreys.
The Phillies Home Run Derby is a hitting competition in which participants receive a certain number of points based on how far they hit each of the pitches tossed to them through a pitching machine. The two two place winners at a local competition advance to the regional event, with the winners from that competition qualifying for the finals at Citizens Bank Park.
