PHOTOS: Boardwalk Classic - Wildwood girls top previously unbeaten Maryland team, Ocean City teams win

WILDWOOD – The Wildwood High School girls basketball team put forth a solid effort at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic Saturday and wound up snapping a two-game losing streak.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 9-0 lead, saw their opponent rally to tie the contest but then methodically pulled away from there for a 55-35 win over the Seed School (Md.).

Rebecca Benichou scored a game-high 19 points, Addison Troiano contributed 15 points and Angela Wilber added 10 points for Wildwood (4-3).

Seed School had won its first five games of the season entering the contest.

Boys - Wildwood 61, Cape May Tech 12: In a bracket consolation game, Wildwood (2-2) ran out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Nolan Mawhinney netted 17 points and Owen Bannon chipped in 11 points for Wildwood, which had 12 players reach the scoresheet. Teague Ludeman scored seven points for Cape May Tech (0-6).

Boys - Ocean City 48, Winslow Township 42: Trailing by two at the half, Ocean City took the lead for good behind a 13-7 edge in the second quarter. Luke Tjoumakaris led four Ocean City players in double figures with 12 points. Josh Lenko scored 11 points and Tighe Olek and Dean Lappin each added 11 points for the Raiders (5-0). 

Girls - Ocean City 38, Central Bucks South (Pa.) 36: Marley Ostrander’s basket with a little more than a minute to play gave the lead to good for Ocean City, which rallied from an eight-point deficit. Ostrander led the Raiders (3-1) with 15 points and Gabby Henry added 11. 

Girls - Methacton (Pa.) 64, Lower Cape May 31: Brooked Robinson led Lower Cape May (2-1) with nine points in the loss. Savannah Wareham added seven.
