Catching up with former area high school athletes now competing at the college level …

Marianna Papazoglou (graduate student-West Chester-WCA) recorded team bests of 16 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots for the Rams in a 59-55 loss to East Stroudsburg in her final college game recently. Papazoglou finished the season with per-game averages of 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. She scored in double figures in 12 games this season, including her final three. Her season best in scoring was 26 points in a win over Mansfield. Teammate Macie McCracken (freshman-West Chester basketball-WHS) finished the season with per-game averages of 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds. She scored in double figures in 10 games. West Chester finished the season at 11-16 overall, 7-14 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. …

Brock Zurawski (junior-Rider wrestling-LCMR) has earned an at-large selection to the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships scheduled for later this week in Cleveland. Zurawski, the 2025 conference champion, posted a 22-5 record and placed third at the MAC Wrestling Championships at 197 pounds earlier this month. Now a two-time NCAA qualifier, Zurawski is one of five Rider wrestlers who have qualified for the NCAA championships. …

JADA ELSTON

Jada Elston (junior-FDU basketball-MTHS) and the Knights captured their second straight Northeast Conference title to earn a second straight berth to the NCAA Tournament after a 79-57 victory over Long Island University in the NEC Tournament title game on Sunday. Elston played one minute in the championship game. Elston has appeared in 19 games and is averaging 1.5 points and 0.4 rebounds. FDU (30-4 overall, 18-0 NEC) will face Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. …

Imene Fathi (senior-Stockton basketball-WHS) finished an outstanding four-year career when the Ospreys fell, 67-57, to William Paterson in the New Jersey Athletic Conference semifinals. Fathi scored a team-high 16 points and tied her career high with nine assists in the loss. Fathi ended her career just 19 points shy of 1,000 for her career and finished third in program history with 323 assists and fourth in three-point field goals with 118. She played in 103 games in her career, with 84 starts. Stockton finished this season at 16-11 overall, 12-6 in NJAC games. …

Carly Murphy (junior-Swarthmore basketball-WCA) finished the season third on the team in scoring at 8.5 points per game and second on the team at 5.1 rebounds per game for the Garnet this winter. Murphy provided one of the team’s top highlights when she sank a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give Swarthmore a 50-47 victory over Haverford on Feb. 4. Swarthmore finished 10-15 overall, 7-7 in the Centennial Conference. …

JUSTIN HARPER

Justin Harper (junior-Stockton basketball-WCA) was named a second team New Jersey Athletic Conference all-star. He led the Ospreys in scoring at 15.6 points per game while also pulling down 5.3 rebounds per contest. Harper led the team with 48 three-point baskets and was also second on the team in assists with 66. He played in all 27 of the team’s games, with 24 starts. Teammate Riley Powell (freshman-Stockton basketball-WCA) saw action in 17 games and averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds. Another teammate, Anthony Trombetta (redshirt freshman-Stockton basketball-MTHS) played in eight games and averaged 1.9 points. …

Macky Bonner (sophomore-Ursinus lacrosse-LCMR) posted an assist, three ground balls and a draw control to help the Bears to a 12-10 win over previously unbeaten Stockton on Saturday. Bonner has seen action off the bench in all six games for the Bears (4-2). Ursinus is next in action Saturday at home against Franklin and Marshall. …

Kaci Mikulski (sophomore-Jefferson basketball-WCA) played in 20 games and averaged 1.9 points per game. Jefferson finished 17-12 overall, 11-8 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. …

HUNTER RAY

Hunter Ray (sophomore-FDU baseball-LCMR) went 3 for 6 with a pair of home runs and five RBI in a 13-12 win over Coppin State on Sunday. Ray’s RBI single was part of a two-run eighth inning that put FDU in front for good. Ray is off to a sensational start for the Knights, batting .355 with four doubles, five home runs, 18 RBI and seven stolen bases. FDU took a record of 8-7 overall, 5-1 Northeast Conference into Tuesday’s home game against Marist. … 

McKenzie Palek (freshman-Felician basketball-MTHS) had three points and a steal in the Falcons’ 65-63 overtime win over Holy Family in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title game. She then scored 13 points to go with three steals, a blocked shot and one rebound in the team’s 75-62 loss to Daemen College in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament. Palek played in 31 games, with 28 starts, and averaged 8.3 points and 2.5 rebounds and was second on the team in both assists with 101 and three-point baskets with 28 and third on the team in steals with 67. Felician finished 24-8 overall, 15-5 CACC. …

Keith Palek III (senior-Missouri State-Woodbine resident-St. Augustine Prep) recorded 15 points and three rebounds in the Bears’ 69-66 loss to Louisiana Tech in the semifinal round of the Conference USA Tournament. For the season, Palek averaged 17.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists and was named a second-team Conference USA selection. Palek was the first Missouri State player and one of just five Division I players nationally this season to record at least 500 points, 200 rebounds and 100 assists. Palek was also named to the conference’s All-Academic Team. He carries a 3.67 grade-point average while pursuing a Master’s degree in business administration. …

KIMMY CASIELLO

Kimmy Casiello (senior-Widener basketball-WCA) made both of her shots from the floor and scored five points to go with a steal in the Pride’s 76-72 loss to Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament championship game. Casiello was one of four Widener players to start all 27 games. She averaged 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds and was second on the team with 77 assists. Teammate Mia Elisano (junior-Widener basketball-MTHS) saw action in 13 games and averaged 1.5 points and 1.7 rebounds. Widener finished the season 21-6 overall, 11-3 in MAC Commonwealth games. …
Kaitlyn McGuigan (sophomore-Immaculata basketball-LCMR) saw action in 15 games and averaged 0.7 points and 0.5 rebounds for the Mighty Macs, who finished 24-4 overall, 14-0 Atlantic East Conference. Immaculata won the AEC postseason tournament with a 74-49 win over Marywood in the title game before losing to SUNY New Paltz, 67-51, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. …

Junior Hans (sophomore-Centenary basketball-WHS) saw action in 10 games and averaged 3.6 points and 1.1 rebounds for the Cyclones. Centenary finished 11-15 overall, 9-5 in the Atlantic East Conference. …

LINDSAY HOLDEN

Lindsay Holden (senior-Neumann basketball-LCMR) finished her final college season fourth on the team in scoring at 6.8 points per game and second in total assists with 62. She led the team with 35 three-pointers. Holden played and started in 25 of the team’s 26 games. Teammate Hannah Cappelletti (sophomore-Neumann basketball-MTHS) played in 24 games, with one start, and averaged 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds. Neumann finished the season 9-17 overall, 7-7 in the Atlantic East Conference. …

Amir Elston (freshman-Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland basketball-MTHS) played in 21 games, with 15 starts, and averaged 5.8 points per game. He shot 19 for 58 from three-point range (32.8 percent). He shot 77.1 percent from the free-throw line and posted 40 assists against just 12 turnovers. Rowan Cumberland finished 10-18 overall. …

Jamir McNeil (freshman-Rider basketball-MTHS) played in all 29 games for the Broncs in his debut season. He averaged 1.3 points and recorded 17 assists, 16 rebounds and 16 steals. McNeil was the architect of one of the top highlights of the season for Rider when he made a three-pointer from 60 feet out at the halftime buzzer in an 81-78 win over St. Peter’s in early February. Rider finished 4-23 overall, 3-17 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games. …

PAT BEAN

Pat Bean (sophomore-Gwynedd Mercy basketball-WCA) was presented with the Atlantic East Conference’s Men’s Basketball Elite Scholar award, which is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site. Bean carries a 3.67 GPA as a criminal justice major. Bean was a member of the 2024-25 AEC All-Academic team and has been recognized as a member of the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Academic Elite for each of his semesters at the school. Bean saw action in 10 games this season for the Griffins, who finished 19-8 overall, 11-3 AEC and lost 66-65 to Neumann in the AEC Tournament championship game. …

Kennedy Campbell (freshman-Atlantic Cape Community College-CMTHS) played in 21 games, with 18 starts for the Buccaneers this winter. She averaged 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds. ACCC finished 15-8 overall. …

Ryan Salinsky (sophomore-Montclair State lacrosse-LCMR) has seen action in three games, with one start, and has recorded one ground ball. The Redhawks (3-1 overall) were scheduled to play Bowdoin College on Tuesday. …

EVAN SHOFFLER

Evan Shoffler (sophomore-Shippensburg baseball-LCMR) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Baseball Co-Athlete of the Week on Monday. A shortstop, Shoffler batted .688 with 11 hits in 16 at bats out of the leadoff spot in a four-game series against Lock Haven over the weekend. He reached base in 14 of his 19 plate appearances and also stole four bases while posting seven RBI and 10 runs scored. For the season, Shoffler is second on the team in batting average at .435 and has posted four doubles, two triples and four home runs to go with 17 RBI and a team-best 23 runs scored. He has started all 18 of the team’s games. Shippensburg is 13-5 overall. The team begins Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader at Kutztown on Friday. …

Logan Totten (freshman-Atlantic Cape Community College baseball-WHS) is 5 for 15 with a double, triple and three RBI through five games so far for the Buccaneers. ACCC is 2-3 overall. …

Maggie Boyle (junior-Indiana University of Pennsylvania lacrosse) posted a game-best six goals and an assist in a 21-9 win over Catawba College (N.C.) last weekend. One game earlier, she had three goals and an assist in a 14-11 loss to Lander (S.C.). IUP (3-4) is next in action Saturday at Seton Hill. …

Jenna O’Neill (senior-Rowan lacrosse-LCMR) has started all six games so far for the Profs and is fourth in the team in ground balls. Rowan (4-2), which is ranked 19th nationally, was scheduled to play at Sewanee (Tenn.) on Tuesday. …

JULIA GIBSON

Julia Gibson (senior-Stockton lacrosse-LCMR) has started all eight games so far for the Ospreys and has posted 15 goals and 12 assists. She had five goals and an assist in the team’s most recent game, a 16-5 win over Farmingdale State. Teammate Brianna Robinson (graduate student-Stockton lacrosse-MTHS) has registered seven goals and an assist while also starting all eight games. Stockton (5-3 overall) is next in action Saturday at home against Alvernia. …

Delaney Brown (senior-Immaculata tennis-LCMR) and Hailey Elwell (sophomore-Immaculata tennis-LCMR) are both key members of the Mighty Macs’ team. They’ve teamed to compete at first doubles, while Brown also plays first singles and Elwell second singles. …

Matthew Frame (senior-Immaculata lacrosse-MTHS) has started six games as a midfielder and has posted nine goals and two assists for the Mighty Macs. Teammate Danny Brady (sophomore-Immaculata lacrosse-MTHS) has played in four games off the bench as a defender. Immaculata (5-3) is next scheduled to play Wednesday at Manhattanville (N.Y.). …

Mason Blizzard (sophomore-Rutgers-Camden baseball-MTHS) has two doubles and three RBI in 13 at bats while seeing action in six games, with four starts, as a catcher so far for the Scarlet Raptors. …

Kody Lewis (sophomore-Georgian Court baseball-LCMR) has played in four games, with three starts, so far this season as a catcher. He has a hit and three RBI in seven at bats. Georgian Court (2-10) is next in action Wednesday against Bridgeport. …

Maddyn McAnaney (junior-Salisbury lacrosse-MTHS) has played in seven games, with two starts, as a defender. She has recorded four ground balls. Salisbury was 8-0 and ranked fifth nationally in Division III going into Monday’s game against William Smith in Panama City, Fla. …

Jackson Brown (sophomore-Holy Family lacrosse-LCMR), a defender, is second on the team in caused turnovers with nine and fifth on the team in ground balls with 18. Holy Family (3-3 overall) is next in action March 25 at Dominican. …

Tessa Hueber (sophomore-Point Park lacrosse-LCMR) has started three games as a midfielder so far and has posted five goals and five assists. Point Park (2-3), located in Pittsburgh, is next in action Wednesday against Westminster. …

Abbie Teefy (sophomore-TCNJ lacrosse-MTHS) has posted eight goals and an assist while starting all four games so far as an attacker. She had a goal and an assist in the team’s recent 17-5 win over SUNY-New Paltz. TCNJ (4-0), currently ranked 14th nationally in Division III, is next in action Wednesday against Babson. …

Gabby Cruz (sophomore-Misericordia softball-MTHS) has pitched in seven games, with five starts, and has posted a record of 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched. Misericordia (5-7) is next scheduled to play Wednesday at home in a doubleheader against Lycoming. …

Mike Adelizzi (junior-Penn State Abington-MTHS) has allowed just one run in three relief appearances so far for the Lions. He has posted a 2.45 ERA and three strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. Penn State Abington (10-4) is next scheduled to play Wednesday against Saint Elizabeth. …

Taj Thweatt (senior-Coppin State basketball-WCA) played in 23 games, with three starts, and averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He shot 38.3 percent from three-point range (18 for 47) and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line (29 for 36). Coppin State finished 7-24 overall, 5-9 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. …

She has posted five goals and an assist to go with nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Newberry (S.C.) takes a record of 6-4 into its next game Wednesday against Slippery Rock. …
