WILDWOOD – The Wildwood High School boys soccer team enjoyed a comfortable victory ahead of a massive divisional showdown this week.
The Warriors ran out to a 5-1 lead at the half en route to an 8-3 victory over Clayton at Kaitlin M. Anzelone Memorial Field Tuesday afternoon.
The win keeps Wildwood in second place in the Tri-County Classic Division behind Pitman. The Warriors travel to Pitman on Wednesday. A victory would place Wildwood (6-3 overall, 4-1 division) in a virtual tie with the Panthers in the division title race. Pitman (7-3, 6-0) edged Wildwood, 3-2, in the teams’ first meeting early in the season.
On Tuesday, Daniele Sanzone led the way for Wildwood by scoring three first-half goals to put his team in control. Ryan Cruz, Gavin Burns, Buddy Morey, Alexander Osario and Alexander Palomec also scored for the Warriors. Osario and Kelan Miller each had two assists.
