VIDEO: Lower makes history with first volleyball playoff win

ERMA – The Lower Cape May Regional High School girls volleyball team has made history.
The Lady Tigers, hosting a state playoff match for the first time, picked up their first-ever state playoff victory when they swept Cedar Creek, 2-0, in a first-round South Jersey Group II match Thursday afternoon.
Lower, the eight seed in the tournament, won the two games of the match by scores of 25-20 and 27-25. They trailed the second game by as much as 13-6 and faced game point before rallying to win the game and clinch the match.
Alyssa Ferrante led the way for Lower with 10 kills, six digs and two blocks. Jewels Frederick posted seven assists and four assists, Makayla Lee added six digs, Reagan Milligan had five digs and Adeline Pacevich had four digs and four assists. Kyra Ridgway chipped in four digs.
The victory was Lower’s first in a state playoff match in the seven-year history of the program. The team also extended its program-record for victories in a season by improving to 13-8.
Lower, coached by Greta Pacevich, will face top-seeded Barnegat in the second round next week.
