WILDWOOD – Two Cape May County teams renewed their basketball rivalry Saturday, as Wildwood hosted Lower Cape May in front of a near sold-out crowd.
The schools split the doubleheader, with Lower Cape May winning the boys game and Wildwood taking the girls game.

BIG SECOND QUARTER HELPS LCM BOYS
Upset-minded Wildwood held an 18-11 lead late in the first quarter of the boys game. But thanks to a three-pointer, a quick steal and two free throws, Lower Cape May scored the final five points of the first period in the span of five seconds. That began a 29-9 run to close the half for the Caper Tigers, who went on to a 64-48 victory.
Ty Bonner led all scorers with 19 points for Lower Cape May (9-7). He also produced six rebounds and six assists. Cole Sederland came off the bench to make four three-pointers and finish with 15 points and Ryan Mallon and John Fernandez each added 10 points. Mason Cronin chipped in eight points and 14 rebounds.
Lower Cape May made 10 three-pointers in the first half, seven in the second quarter alone.
Brian Cunniff scored 15 points and Nolan Mawhinney added 11 points for Wildwood (5-9).
MCCRACKEN POWERS WILDWOOD GIRLS
Lower Cape May may have been an underdog but the Lady Tigers showed solid toughness in the first quarter, trailing just 14-12 after the first eight minutes.
But Wildwood responded with an 18-6 run in the second quarter to build a 14-point lead at halftime before taking complete control of the proceedings with a 21-9 edge in the third quarter. The final result was a 73-35 victory for the Lady Warriors.
Macie McCracken starred in the victory, the Wildwood senior making five three-pointers, scoring 31 points, collecting eight rebounds and dishing six assists. Angela Wilber contributed 13 points and eight assists and Addison Troiano, just a freshman, chipped in 11 points.
Wildwood (11-2) made 10 three-pointers as a team.
Alex Vogt led Lower Cape May (4-12) with eight points.
