WILDWOOD – The Wildwood High School girls basketball team pulled off an extraordinary feat Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Warriors put up 33 points in the first half without making a single two-point basket or free throw.

Wildwood sank 11 three-pointers in the opening half, en route to 19 for the game, in a 75-55 win over Pennsville in the second round of the South Jersey Group I Tournament.

The win sends third-seeded Wildwood into the semifinal round. The team will enjoy another home game thanks to No. 7 Clayton’s win over No. 2 Palmyra. Wildwood will face the Clippers Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Taking advantage of zone defenses employed by Pennsville that gave Wildwood numerous open looks from distance, Wildwood (21-7) fired at will and made enough of those shots to build a lead as high as 16 points in the first half. A Pennsville surge in the latter part of the second quarter and early parts of the third cut its deficit to as low as seven points early in the second half, but Wildwood held a 57-46 advantage going into the fourth. Pennsville was then limited to only two field goals in the final period as Wildwood pulled away.

Macie McCracken sank six three-pointers and finished with a game-high 27 points for Wildwood. She also had 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Angela Wilber made six three-pointers and added 19 points and Rebecca Benichou scored all of her 15 points via five three-point baskets.

In all, Wildwood shot an excellent 19 for 44 on three-point attempts (43.2 percent). The 19 three-pointers are two off the program and state record 21 three-pointers the team made in a game last season against Woodstown.

Addison Troiano chipped in eight points and nine rebounds for Wildwood.

Taylor Bass scored 18 points to pace Pennsville (18-10).
