It’s been a difficult season for the Middle Township High School football team, the Panthers going winless over their first nine games.
However, Middle was able to end the season with some positive momentum.
Thanks in part to a quick start that saw them score two touchdowns in the span of less than five minutes in the first quarter, the Panthers went on to post a 25-6 victory over Lindenwold in an NJSIAA consolation game Thursday evening.
The 25 points represented a strong offensive output for Middle, which had scored just 35 total points over its first nine games combined.
All of the game’s scoring was done in the first half.
Davon Anderson was a major factor in the victory. The junior running back and linebacker ran for two scores, one of which came from 38 yards out, and also intercepted a pass in the end zone to lead Middle.
James Caldwell added a touchdown reception and Chase Moore capped the scoring in the second quarter with a return for a touchdown after teammate Hunter White forced a fumble.
Middle, an extremely young team this fall, finished the season at 1-9.
