The Lower Cape May Regional High School boys basketball team used some excellent outside shooting to earn a signature victory Thursday.
The Caper Tigers drained 10 three-point shots and pulled away with a big fourth quarter in a 65-38 victory over Absegami. The win allowed Lower to finish off its Cape-Atlantic United Conference slate unbeaten.
Lower (18-3 overall, 12-0 CAL United) led the game virtually from start to finish, establishing an early double-digit advantage behind a 20-6 first-quarter blitz. Lower later finished strong, posting a 26-5 edge in the fourth quarter.
Brothers Macky and Ty Bonner combined for six three-pointers as each tied for game high with 21 points. Josh Gretta added three three-pointers and added 11 points.
Conference champion Lower Cape May, which has won six straight, has earned the No. 6 seed for the Cape-Atlantic League playoff tournament. After receiving a bye past the play-in round, Lower will host No. 11 Millville next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Lower is next in action Saturday against Colts Neck in a showcase event at Barnegat High School.
