CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Tyler McDevitt helped the Middle Township High School baseball team continue its strong start to the season Tuesday.

The senior right-handed pitcher gave up just a first-inning single in tossing a six-inning one-hitter as the Panthers downed Atlantic City, 10-0, for their fourth straight victory.

The win moved Middle to 6-1 overall, 6-0 in the Cape-Atlantic United Conference. The Panthers have a two-game lead in the loss column over second-place Pleasantville.

Max Adelizzi gave Middle all the runs it would need with a two-run single in the first inning. He finished the contest 2 for 4 with four RBI.

Adam Radzieta went 2 for 2 with a walk and a hit by pitch and scored three runs and Tommy Phillips had a hit and two RBI for the Panthers. McDevitt and Tommy Yarson each posted a hit and two runs scored.

On the mound, McDevitt cruised throughout. He needed just 89 pitches en route to his complete game. He recorded 12 of the 18 outs via strikeout and walked just one batter.

McDevitt, who established himself as one of the CAL’s top hurlers as a junior by pitching to a 1.76 ERA last season, improved to 3-1 so far this season with Tuesday’s win over the Vikings. He has a 2.68 ERA and has struck out 22 in 15.2 innings pitched.

Middle is next in action Thursday at home for a CAL crossover game against Absegami. Its next division games come Monday and Tuesday against Cape May Tech. Monday as at Cape May Tech at 4 p.m., while Tuesday’s game is a 6 p.m. start at the Clarence Davies Sports Complex.
