Four local baseball teams set to compete in Warrior Classic Saturday

Saturday is set to serve as a showcase for high school baseball in southern Cape May County.

Wildwood will host the four-team Warrior Classic, a tournament that will also include Cape May Tech, Lower Cape May and Middle Township.

The Warrior Classic is returning after a seven-year absence. Wildwood hosted the event from 2008 through 2017, with various teams from across the region participating in what in the past were often five- or six-team double-elimination tournaments played out over three or four days.

This year’s version will be a one-day event.

The openers will feature Cape May Tech vs. Lower Cape May at 11 a.m. and Middle Township vs. Wildwood at 1:30 p.m. The losers of those games will play in the third-place game at 4 p.m., with the winners of the early games facing off for the championship at 6:30 p.m.

Select tournament games, including the championship, are tentatively set to be broadcast live on the Wildwood Warrior Baseball YouTube channel and the Cape Atlantic Live Facebook page.

11 am - Cape May Tech vs. Lower Cape May

1:30 pm - Middle Township vs. Wildwood

4 pm - Third-Place Game

6:30 pm - Championship Game
