The Lower Cape May Regional and Cape May County Technical high school girls basketball teams each advanced in the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament with comfortable victories Monday evening.

On the boys side, Cape May Tech was knocked out with a loss.

Lower Cape May, seeded 14th, topped No. 19 Cedar Creek, 43-24 in a play-in round game. The contest was played at the Richard M. Teitelman School, due to the unavailability of both of Lower Cape May’s gyms due to South Jersey Group II wrestling matches.

Lower (6-17) held Cedar Creek to five first-half points and only five field goals for the game.

Alex Vogt scored 15 points and Meredth Lutjen and Brooke Robinson each added 10 points for the Lady Tigers, who advance to play at No. 3 Egg Harbor Township on Wednesday (weather permitting).

Meanwhile, Cape May Tech, the No. 16 seed in the tournament, topped No. 17 Pleasantville, 67-46. The Lady Hawks led by 15 points at the half before blowing the game open with a 22-12 third-quarter edge.

Emma Drumm poured in 20 points, Amanda Daino sank 19 points and Marley Wetzel chipped in 12 points for Cape May Tech (12-11), which advances to play No. 1 Wildwood Catholic on Wednesday.

In the boys game, Vineland sophomore James Lawson scored 60 points – one off the CAL record for points in a game set by Mainland’s Gary Satrappe in 1962 – to lead the 12th-seeded Fighting Clan to an 85-37 victory over No. 21 Cape May Tech (1-22).
