The Lower Cape May Regional High School wrestling team served notice of its ability to the South Jersey wrestling community Saturday.
The Caper Tigers produced six champions and had two other wrestlers reach title bouts en route to securing the team championship at the 11-team Pete Adams Memorial Tournament at Vineland High School.
Tristan Rosemeyer (113), Bryce Paley (120), Eli Glover (132), Chase Hansen (144), Daniel Byrne (157) and David Douglass (190) each secured championships at their respective weight classes for the Caper Tigers, who posted 227.5 points. Second-place Clearview was well behind with 169 points.
Three Middle Township wrestlers won championships at the tournament – Tyler King (150), R.J. Attenborough (165) and Noah Nagle (175) – as the Panthers finished in fifth-place in team scoring.
Lower also had four other wrestlers place among the top four in their respective weight classes. Shane Morrell (175) and Jake Hearon (Hwt.) each lost in title bouts to place second, Gabe Tosto (165) finished third and Dom Marrero (138) placed fourth.
For Middle Township, Connor Hagan (215) lost in a title bout to finish second and Ben Banks (120) placed fourth.
