VIDEO: Anderson shines as Middle earns shutout in home opener

Davon Anderson and the Middle Township High School football team sure gave its fans something to cheer about Thursday evening.

Playing their home opener, the Panthers erupted for five first-half touchdowns en route to a 41-0 dismantling of Gloucester Catholic at newly renovated Memorial Field.

Anderson was standout for Middle, rushing for 60 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries on offense while also having a hand in two turnovers on defense.

Hunter White added a pair of scores, one coming on a 15-yard run and the other coming on a 12-yard pass from Julian Broughton.

Idris Clemmer added Middle’s final score on a touchdown run in the fourth quarter. 

M.J. Phillips made five of his six extra-point kick tries.

All told, six different players combined to rush for 221 yards for Middle (1-1). Broughton completed 8-of-12 passes for 140 yards.

Tyler King led Middle’s defense with five tackles. Anderson posted an interception and a forced fumble, Isaac Jameson-Spencer and James Germiano each added interceptions and Seth Germanio chipped in a fumble recovery.
