Middle grad sets a pair of assist records for Cabrini field hockey

Middle Township graduate Caroline Gallagher has set a pair of assist records for the Cabrini University field hockey team.

Caroline Gallagher continues to cement her legacy in the athletic program at Cabrini University.

The Middle Township High School graduate broke two records for the Cavaliers’ field hockey program in a 6-0 victory over Neumann University in an Atlantic East Conference Tournament game on Saturday.

Gallagher scored a goal and dished three assists in the win. She exited the game as Cabini’s all-time assists leader with 37, while also setting a new program record for assists in a season with 17.

The victory moves Cabrini into an AEC semifinal game at St. Mary’s (Md.) on Wednesday. Gallagher has a chance to break the program’s single-season points record of 62 in the contest. She has accumulated 61 points so far this season, through 22 goals and her 17 assists.

Gallagher is the two-time reigning Atlantic East Player on the Year. Last season, she also became the first Cabrini player named a Division III All-American, making the National Field Hockey Coaches Association third team.

Gallagher has posted 59 goals and 37 assists over her three-year career with the Cavaliers.

Gallagher is also a standout on the Cabrini women’s lacrosse team. She was named the AEC Defensive Player of the Year last spring after leading the conference with 2.68 caused turnovers per game. She was named a first team AEC selection in 2022 after scoring 13 goals, causing 29 turnovers and scooping 32 ground balls. 

Gallagher is a 2020 graduate of Middle Township. As a high school senior, she posted 22 goals and 19 assists in field hockey. Her senior high school season of lacrosse was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
