WILDWOOD – It’s become a trend in high school basketball over the past few years to celebrate a player’s 100th career three-pointer.
Macie McCracken has doubled that milestone.
McCracken, a junior at Wildwood, knocked down the 200th three-point shot of her career in the second quarter of Monday’s 84-33 victory over Salem.
McCracken, already regarded by many as the greatest pure shooter in program history, hit five three-pointers in the game to increase her career total to 201. She made an incredible 103 three-pointers in her sophomore year alone.
McCracken finished the game with 30 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, five blocked shots and four steals. Freshman Rebecca Benichou added 21 points and sophomore Angela Wilber chipped in 18 points.
Wildwood had just seven players available for the game due to illness.
The Lady Warriors improved to 6-3 with the victory. The team’s three defeats have been by a combined 11 points to teams that were a combined 29-2 through Monday’s games – Egg Harbor Township, Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Hightstown.
Wildwood is next in action Wednesday at home against Penns Grove.
McCracken’s 30 points in the win over Salem moved her career total to an even 1,300.
