Ocean City sweeps team, individual titles at county golf meet

The Ocean City High School golf team has enjoyed great success at the Cape May County Championship tournament in recent years.

That continued on Monday.

The Raiders produced the individual boys and girls champions and placed six golfers overall among the top 10 finishers to win the tournament held at Shore Gate Golf Club over Lower Cape May, Middle Township and Wildwood Catholic. 

Garrett Rowand led Ocean City to the team title by shooting 80 in the 18-hole event, winning the individual title by five strokes over teammate Alex Bayham. Lower Cape May’s Cole Bada and Ocean City’s Sam Ritti tied for third place at 89. Lower’s Alex Sekela rounded out the top five with a 91.

Lower Cape May’s Matthew Reiss (93) and Ocean City’s Logan Ochs tied for sixth at 93, Ocean City’s Ian Crowley placed eights at 95 and Lower Cape May’s Eric Coombs finished ninth with a 97.

Ocean City’s Lily Flora was the female champion, shooting 100 to finish 10th overall.

A total of 22 golfers competed in the event.

Kory Lafferty and Ryan McGrath were Wildwood Catholic’s top scorers at 102. Cody Rosensteel led Middle Township with a 114.
