Gabby Cruz of Middle Township High School is the latest Mudhen Brewing Company/CapeAtlanticLive.com Female Athlete of the Week.

A senior pitcher on the softball team, Cruz has struck out 50 batters against just 12 walks over more than 32 innings pitched so far this season. She’s conceded just eight earned runs for a 1.73 ERA. Cruz struck out 13 and walked only one in a win over ACIT earlier this week. She also tossed a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a win over Mainland earlier this season.

Cruz, who recently surpassed 400 career strikeouts, is set to play college softball at Misericordia University.

Middle takes a record of 2-3 into Saturday’s game against Barnegat.
