Wildwood vs. Wildwood Catholic: Warriors take baseball game, Crusaders win softball contest

WILDWOOD – The first baseball and softball games played between Wildwood High School and Wildwood Catholic Academy in quite some time each ended in shutouts on Saturday.

Wildwood took the baseball game, 5-0, while Wildwood Catholic was a 10-0 winner in the softball contest.

In the baseball game, Ryan Troiano struck out 11, walked none and conceded just two hits over six innings to lead Wildwood. He also had two hits and two RBI at the plate. Junior Hans had a hit and two runs scored and also stole three bases, bringing his career total to 97. Logan Totten chipped in an RBI single.

Wildwood, which also beat Camden Academy Charter, 9-0, earlier in the day, won its sixth straight game and for the ninth time in 10 games to improve to 16-8.

Wildwood Catholic, which revived its program for the first time in four years, finished its season at 1-12.

In the softball game, Emil Evans had three hits, two RBI and a run scored and Dani Shaw and Tori Wareham each had two hits and two runs scored to lead the Crusaders. Emma Johnson allowed just one hit, a single by Wildwood’s Monica Kobierowski.
