RIO GRANDE -- The high school soccer season for local teams unofficially began earlier this month when the Cape Express Soccer Club hosted its annual 8v-8 high school tournanent at the Ockie Wisting Recreation Complex.
Three local teams came away as winners of their respective pools. On the boys side, Middle Township won the A Division and Wildwood Catholic took top honors in the B Division. Lower Cape May's girls team was the B Division winner.
In addition to the winning teams, the boys teams from Lower Cape May and Wildwood and the girls teams from Middle Township and Wildwood Catholic also participated. Other boys teams in the tournament included GCIT, Gateway, Woodstown and Holy Spirit. Additional girls teams included Clearview, GCIT, Paul VI and ACIT. Some programs, such as the Middle and Wildwood boys, put two teams into the tournament.
