Catching up with former area high school athletes now competing at the college level:
David Giulian (junior-The College of New Jersey football-MTHS) was recently named a first team New Jersey Athletic Conference all-star as a linebacker. Giulian posted a team-best 97 solo tackles, good for second in the NJAC and 31st nationally in Division III. His best output of the season came in a game against Rowan, when he posted 21 tackles. Giulian finished the season with four games with at least 10 tackles. He also recovered two fumbles and returned an interception for a score in a game against Kean. TCNJ finished 6-4 overall, 3-3 in NJAC games. …
Carly Murphy (sophomore-Swarthmore basketball-WCA) scored 13 points to go with three rebounds and three steals in a 93-27 win over Rosemont in the team’s most recent game. Murphy has played in all six games (two starts) so far this season for the Garnet and is averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Swarthmore is next in action Tuesday at home against Gwynedd Mercy. …
Martin Anguelov (senior-Richard Stockton basketball-WCA) poured in a career-high 33 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 5-for-7 from three-point range, in the Ospreys’ 100-94 win at Eastern last Thursday. Anguelov is averaging 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds through four games. He leads Stockton in free-throw percentage among players with at least six attempts at 92.9 percent (13 for 14). Stockton is next in action Tuesday when it hosts Kean in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener. …
KATE HERLIHY
Kate Herlihy (senior-Rowan basketball-MTHS) posted eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Profs’ 73-71 loss at Brooklyn College Friday. One game earlier, Herlihy scored a game-high 19 points in a 60-44 loss to Messiah. Through three games, Herlihy is averaging 16.3 points and 4.0 rebounds. Rowan (1-2) is next in action Tuesday at home in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener against Montclair State. …
Kaydence Oakley (sophomore-Kean women’s soccer-WHS) played in 17 games, with 10 starts, this fall for the Cougars. She scored one goal and had two assists. Kean finished the season 7-9-3 overall, 2-4-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. …
Olivia Sgrignioli (freshman-Penn State Harrisburg-MTHS) played in 10 games, with eight starts, as a midfielder for the Lions this fall. Penn State Harrisburg placed first in the United East Conference during the regular season and went on to win the conference tournament championship thanks to a 4-3 shootout victory over St. Mary’s College of Maryland after a scoreless draw in the title game. Sgrignioli played 10 minutes off the bench in the championship contest. The team’s season came to a close at 10-6-5 overall after a 2-1 loss to William Smith College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. …
IMENE FATHI
Imene Fathi (junior-Stockton basketball-WHS) registered eight points, three assists and three rebounds in the Ospreys’ 69-64 loss to Albright on Saturday. Teammate Brianna Robinson (graduate student-Stockton basketball-MTHS) added six points and five rebounds. Fathi has started all five games and is averaging a team-best 29.2 minutes per game. She’s second on the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game, leads the team in assists with 19 and is tied for tops on the team in steals with nine. Robinson has also started all five games and is averaging 4.0 points and 3.8 rebounds and is third on the team in steals with six. Stockton (3-2) is next in action Tuesday when it hosts Kean for its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener. …
Michael Zarfati (freshman-Rowan football-MTHS) caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the Profs’ 45-0 win over William Paterson in the team’s season finale earlier this month. For the season, Zarfati caught 39 passes for a team-best 538 yards. His four touchdown receptions tied for the team lead. Rowan finished the season 6-4 overall, 4-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference games. …
JAHLIL WHITE
Jahlil White (redshirt senior/graduate student-LaSalle basketball-WCA) posted 13 points, five rebounds and five assists in the Explorers’ 92-77 win over Stetson at the Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday. For the season, White, a 6-7 guard/forward, is second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game and in rebounding at 6.1 boards per game. He leads the team in blocked shots with six and is tied for the team lead in steals with 10. LaSalle (5-2) is next in action Saturday at home against Temple, for whom White played his first three college seasons. …
Taj Thweatt (redshirt junior-Fairmont State basketball-WCA) recorded 14 points and four rebounds in a 104-66 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. For the season, the 6-8 Thweatt is third on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at 5.3 per game. He is tied for the team lead with five blocked shots. Thweatt previously played college basketball at West Virginia and Temple. Fairmont State (4-0 overall), a Division II school in West Virginia, is next in action Tuesday against Davis & Elkins College. …
BRETT NABB
Brett Nabb (junior-Eastern football-MTHS) completed 13-of-22 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns to help the Eagles rally from a 19-point halftime deficit to stun FDU-Florham, 37-33, in its season finale earlier this month. Nabb also rushed 12 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in the victory. For the season, Nabb completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 1,220 yards and nine touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing yards with 739 and rushing touchdowns with 11. Nabb was recently named to the MAC All-Sportsmanship Team and was an honorable mention MAC all-star. Eastern finished the season at 5-5 overall, 5-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. …
Collin Hassay (senior-Immaculata soccer-LCMR) played in all 17 games, with 10 starts, for the Mighty Macs this fall. He recorded one goal and one assist. His teammate, Reed Lindsay (junior-Immaculata soccer-OCHS-North Cape May resident), posted three goals and five assists while starting in 16 games. Immaculata finished the season at 7-9-1 overall, 4-2 in the Atlantic East Conference. …
Archie Lawler (sophomore-Carnegie Mellon football-LCMR) has played in three games with one tackle and a forced fumble for the Tartans, one of the top teams in the nation in Division III. Carnegie Mellon (9-1 overall) hosts Centre College this Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. …
DAKOTA LUDMAN
Dakota Ludman (senior-Stockton field hockey-MTHS) started all 19 games as a midfielder for the Ospreys this fall. She recorded one assist. Stockton finished the season at 10-9 overall after falling, 4-0, to Rowan in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round. …
Steve Berrodin (sophomore-DeSales men’s soccer-MTHS) saw action in 12 of a possible 20 games this fall for the Bulldogs. DeSales finished the season at 12-5-3 overall, 4-1-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division after falling 2-1 to Stevens in the MAC Freedom Tournament title game. …
BRYNN BOCK
Brynn Bock (senior-Alvernia soccer-MTHS) started all 19 games at goalkeeper for the Knights this fall. She made 132 saves and posted five shutouts. Alvernia finished 6-11-2 overall. …
Ciara DiMauro (sophomore-Clarion women’s soccer-MTHS) started 16 of a possible 17 games and scored two goals for the Golden Eagles this fall. Clarion finished the 2024 season at 2-14-1 overall. …
Gia Famiano (freshman-Wilkes field hockey-MTHS), Alyssa Morrison (freshman-Wilkes field hockey-MTHS) and Anyiah Torres (freshman-Wilkes field hockey-MTHS) were each contributors for the Colonels this fall. Famiano played in 12 games, with five starts; Morrison played in 16 games, with seven starts; and Torres saw action in 17 games off the bench. Wilkes finished 3-15 overall.
SEAN CONNELLY
Sean Connelly (senior-Ursinus football-LCMR) saw action in 10 of 11 games this fall for the Bears. He recorded one tackle. Ursinus finished the season at 9-2 overall, 5-1 Centennial Conference, after a 32-29 loss to King’s College in an NCAA Division III playoff game. …
Kiki Soto (sophomore-Neumann soccer-LCMR) saw action in nine games, with eight starts, at goalkeeper for the Knights. She made 34 total saves and recorded two shutouts. Neumann finished 7-9-3 overall, 3-1-2 in the Atlantic East Conference. …
Hannah Cappelletti (freshman-Neumann basketball-MTHS) has seen action in five of Neumann’s six games so far this season and has posted three points and four assists. Teammate Lindsay Holden (junior-Neumann basketball-LCMR) is averaging 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds but has missed the last four games due to injury. Neumann (4-2 overall) hosts Widener on Tuesday. …
Kimmy Casiello (junior-Widener basketball-WCA) has played in two games so far this season and is averaging 4.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. Teammate Mia Elisano (sophomore-Widener basketball-MTHS) has seen action in three games and has posted one point and two rebounds. Widener (2-3 overall) is next in action Tuesday at Neumann. …

Lexi Frank (senior-Franklin Pierce field hockey-MTHS), a defender, was one of five players to start all 19 games for the Division II Ravens. Franklin Pierce finished at 4-15 overall. …
Marianna Papazoglou (senior-Penn basketball-WCA) has taken a medical redshirt this season. She has begun taking graduate classes toward a master’s degree in education while finishing up her undergraduate studies for a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Papazoglou was recently awarded Penn’s 2024-25 James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship. …
Justin Harper (sophomore-Georgian Court basketball-WCA) scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and picked up two steals for the Lions in a 92-75 loss to Molloy last week. He has played in all five games, with four starts so far this season and is tied for second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game while also averaging 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Harper is also tied for second on the team with six steals. Georgian Court (0-5) is next in action Tuesday at Kutztown.

Destiny Wallace (freshman-Georgian Court basketball-WCA) has played in all three games so far this season for the Lions. She has scored seven points while registering two rebounds and two steals. Georgian Court (0-3) is next in action Tuesday at Tampa. …

Gabby Turco (senior-Rider basketball-WCA) shot 8 for 13 from the field and scored 18 points to go with three steals and two rebounds for the Broncs in a 75-60 loss to VCU Sunday. Through four games, Turco is averaging a team-best 16.4 points per game and has made a team-high eight three-point baskets. She’s shooting 88.9 percent (16 for 18) from the foul line and is shooting 50.9 percent (29 for 57) from the floor. Rider (1-4) is next in action Sunday at Boston University. …
Keith Palek III (senior-California University of Pennsylvania basketball-St. Augustine Prep-Woodbine resident) posted 10 points and five rebounds before leaving the game with an injury after just 12 minutes played in an 84-76 win over Millersville on Friday. He did not play in the team’s 66-61 loss to Shepherd on Saturday, the Vulcans’ first defeat of the season. For the season, Palek is averaging 18.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists through seven games. The Vulcans (6-1) are next in action Tuesday at Daemen (N.Y.). ,,,

Madison Palek (freshman-Clarion basketball-MTHS) did not score but collected seven rebounds in a 104-99 overtime win over Bloomsburg on Saturday. One day earlier, the 6-2 forward posted 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots in an 89-62 win over Mansfield. Palek, who missed the team’s first three games due to injury, is averaging 7.3 points and leads the team in rebounding average at 7.3 per game and blocked shots with seven. Clarion (6-1 overall, 2-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) is next in action Sunday at Ohio Dominican. …
