WILDWOOD CREST – A pool deck packed with fans welcomed the swimming teams from Wildwood Catholic Academy and Lower Cape May Regional High School for the season opener Thursday.
Wildwood Catholic placed first in all but two events as the defending Cape-Atlantic United Conference champion Crusaders downed their county rival Caper Tigers, 95-75.
Ted Woolery, Kona Wong and Lauren Crouthamel were each part of four first-place finishes for Wildwood Catholic.
Individually, Woolery claimed top honors in the 50 and 100 freestyle races, Wong won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke races and Crouthamel took first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke events.
The three also teamed with L.J. Belasco for first place in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay races. Belasco also won the 200 freestyle for Wildwood Catholic.
For Lower Cape May, Giacomino Ruff placed first in the 500 freestyle and Eddie Fucci, Bronson Goodavage, Conley Ryan and Drew Kronemeyer teamed to win the 200 freestyle relay.
