OCEAN CITY – Ocean City High School’s boys and girls track teams were once again the winners at the Cape May County Championships held at Carey Stadium on Monday.
The Raiders took first place in 14 of the 16 events in the boys meet. They were led by four athletes who won two events apiece – Jude Govern (100, 200), Nathan Aschmann (1,600, 3,200), Ryan Davis (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles) and John Stamm (long jump, triple jump). Other Ocean City winners included Dale Curtis (400), Ethan Buck (800), Lucas Smith (discus), Gavin Taylor (javelin) and Grady Hanson (shot put). Ocean City also won the 4x400 relay behind Louis Gracia, Lukas Tuthill, Troy Amstutz and Jesse Riley.
Wildwood’s Giani Jackson won the high jump and Middle Township’s Connor Rowlands and Dantae Kelly tied for first place in the pole vault.
Ocean City won all but four events in the girls meet, led by double winners Ella Miller (100, 200) and Gianna Endicott (discus, shot put). Other Raider girls winners were Alana Clevenger (400), Chloe Care (800), Carly Godfrey (1,600), Maeve Smith (3,200), Callie Duff (high jump), Emily Swan (triple jump) and its 4x400 relay team of Naomi Nnewihe, Kai Linthicum, Julianne Goodman and Ava DeMelia.
Other girls winners included Lower Cape May’s Jasmine Black (100 hurdles) and Ella Biersbach (400 hurdles) and Middle Township’s Haylie Rowlands (pole vault) and Allison Nagle (javelin).
