Brian Cunniff of Wildwood High School is the latest Mudhen Brewing Company/CapeAtlanticLive.com Male Athlete of the Week.

A senior on the baseball team, Cunniff tossed a five-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts in Saturday’s 10-0 win over Cape May Tech at the Caper Classic tournament. He also went 4 for 10 at the plate with five runs scored and three RBI over three games at the tournament, helping the Warriors to two wins. Last week, Cunniff hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Wildwood to a 5-4 win over Clayton. He’s batting .346 with a team-high 13 RBI on the season going into Monday’s game against Penns Grove. As a pitcher, he’s 4-1 with a 3.68 earned run average and 30 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.

Cunniff also competed for the cross country team in the fall and for the basketball team over the winter. He averaged 21.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for the basketball team as a senior, finishing his career with more than 1,000 points. He scored a school-record 55 points during an overtime loss to Clayton in February.
