Boys tennis: Crusaders finish as conference champions

Over the past two seasons, the Wildwood Catholic Academy boys tennis team combined to win just five matches.

But armed with more experience and talent in 2025, the Crusaders turned those fortunes around and won a championship.

Wildwood Catholic recently finished off a solid 11-4 season that resulted in a co-championship in the Cape-Atlantic United Conference. The Crusaders went 5-1 in conference play along with Hammonton. Wildwood Catholic and Hammonton split their two matches with one another to create the co-championship.

Junior Chris Papageorgiou led the lineup at No. 1 singles. Senior Christian Sorensen competed at No. 2 singles and freshman Evan Papageorgioiu manned the No. 3 singles position.

The top doubles team consisted of senior Chuckie Clunn and junior Evan Landis. A number of players competed at second doubles, including senior Chase Adams, freshman Charlie Flickinger, junior Jack Kurtz, junior Jacob Reginer and junior Jackson Doherty.

The United Conference championship is Wildwood Catholic’s first title within the CAL in 22 seasons.

The Crusaders are coached by Joe Halasz.
