CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Kyle Petit may not have started Thursday’s boys soccer game at the Boyd Street Field.

But he sure did finish it.

Petit came off the bench to provide a goal and an assist to lead Middle Township to a comprehensive 2-1 victory over Oakcrest. His goals came just a couple of minutes apart in the first half and turned a 1-0 lead into a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break. The goals were scored in similar fashion, Petit taking through balls from Shagren and Colin Jastremski, respectively, and slicing through the Falcon defense for wide-open looks at goal.

Petit, a sophomore, then assisted on the only tally of the second half, scored by Tommy Shagren.

Miles Stafford needed to make just six stops in goal for the shutout, his second of the season.

Middle (2-1-1) extended its unbeaten streak to three games after a season-opening one-goal loss to Mainland.
