Alex Daniel had to have a lot of patience when it came to passing a personal milestone.
Daniel, a senior on the Middle Township High School boys basketball team, scored the 1,000th point of his career Friday evening to highlight the Panthers’ 69-57 victory over Mainland.
The milestone came in Daniel’s first game with the Panthers. He, along with teammate Jaleo Wakefield, had to miss the first 30 days of the season due to NJSIAA transfer rules. Daniel transferred from Wildwood Catholic Academy prior to this scholastic year.
Daniel began his high school career at Wildwood before moving to Wildwood Catholic for his sophomore and junior seasons.
Daniel needed six points entering the contest to reach 1,000. The milestone point came on a three-pointer from the right baseline late in the opening quarter.
Daniel was one of four Middle players in double figures in the contest, finishing with 10 points. Chase Moore led the way with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Kanye Perkins contributed 10 points and nine rebounds and Mason Murawski also scored 10 points.
The victory was the fifth straight for Middle (6-3 overall, 6-0 CAL American).
Dallas Rowell’s 21 points and Sean Burke’s 18 points paced Mainland (5-7, 1-5).
