Wildwood grad hits another major milestone at Stockton

When your name makes a list that includes only three others, it certainly ranks as a rather major accomplishment.

Wildwood High School graduate Imene Fathi became just the fourth women’s basketball player in Stockton University history to record at least 300 career assists when she hit the milestone in the Ospreys’ 71-63 win over Montclair State Saturday at home.

Fathi, a senior point guard, went into the game needing two assists to reach 300. She dished two helpers to go with 11 points, four rebounds and a steal in the victory.

For the season, Fathi is averaging 9.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game for Stockton (13-9 overall, 10-5 New Jersey Athletic Conference).

Fathi is the first Stockton women’s basketball player in 22 years to reach the 300-assist mark. The other Stockton players with 300 career assists are Kelli Bakanowsky (1999-2003) with 342, Christina Mason (2000-04) with 330 and Rosina Rachuba (1998-2002) with 321.

Fathi passed another milestone at Stockton earlier this season when she sank her 100th career three-pointer. She currently has 113 field goals from behind the arc, ranking her fifth all-time at Stockton. She’s two three-pointers away from moving into fourth place.

Fathi, a 2022 graduate of Wildwood, has played in 98 career games for the Ospreys, with 79 starts. She is averaging 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for her career. She goes into Wednesday’s game at Rutgers-Camden with 919 career points.

Fathi scored 1,332 career points at Wildwood, leading the Lady Warriors to the 2022 South Jersey Group I championship.
