CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township High School softball program honored its seniors and beat a local rival Thursday evening.
The Lady Panthers held Senior Night festivities for Tori Atwood, Sophia Brown, Grace Hall, K.J. Schaffer and Charlotte Romberger and also scored a 14-3 win over Lower Cape May at the Boyd Street Field.
But while the seniors were the main focus, it was a sophomore who emerged as the game’s offensive star as Andi Glassford went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Middle offense.
The Middle seniors each had their moments as well. Hall was the winning pitcher, walking none and allowing only two earned runs over four innings. Romberger hit a two-run triple. Brown walked three times and scored three runs. Schaffer walked twice, stole two bases and scored two runs. And Atwood walked twice and provided stellar defense behind the plate at catcher.
Junior Peyton DeVicchis had a hit and three RBI for Middle (11-6).
Raegan Notch went 2 for 3 with a two-run double and two stolen bases for Lower Cape May (11-5).
